CREATE YOUR OWN SIMILES WITH THE ANTONYMS GAME.

1. Present a few similes and the sample sentences to the class.

Ex. The baby's skin was as white as snow.

Finishing up the project by himself, the boy was as proud as a peacock.

2. Choose one card with one adjective from the  "JOGO DOS ANTÔNIMOS" DA PLAY TO LEARN JOGOS EDUCATIVOS. Students pick out one card and create similes by using the adjective on the card. Emphasize that unique ideas are welcome. The teacher shouldn't be judmental, and accept any similes as long as they are logical.

Ex. As big as Mount Fuji.

As soft as cotton candy.

Students compare their ideas and discuss which ones are interesting or funny.

This activity fosters students creativity and encourages their active participation in the lesson.

My suggestion is to write the similes on cards and hang them in class for a while.
